President's Welcome SAIT's homepage is your pathway into our world. Our world includes over 100 programs which provide learners with training to help them enter careers in Technology Application, Business, Communications, Health, Hospitality and Trades. We have one-year certificate programming, two-year diploma programs, four-year applied degree programs, three and four-year journeyman programs, and custom designed programs ranging from a few hours to four years. We have exceptional facilities at our campuses. Most notable are the specialized training environments related to the 100 program areas. We also have 68 computer lab facilities, including three laptop learning rooms, and our entire campus is networked. I invite you to look into our Centres of Applied Technology homepages. These centres are state-of-the-art facilities sponsored by industry and provide opportunities for learning, technology transfer and applied research. In 1997, 98% of our graduates obtained employment within six months of graduation. This statistic is a tribute to the direction and support we obtain from industry in the design and delivery of our programs. Our instructors are primarily hired from industry and form the backbone of our goal of preparing graduates to enter the workplace ready to be productive. Our most significant growth areas are in training for the Business and Industry community, International Training, and Distributed Learning. The growth rate in these areas has averaged 20 per cent each year over the last four years. Our primary areas of investment are in our Centres of Applied Technology and in Distributed Learning. One of our key strategic goals is to become the prime provider of Distributed Learning in Technology. SAIT is very active in international education. Over the last decade, we've provided training and training consultancy in 13 countries around the world. We've also served thousands of students from more than 30 different countries in our full-time programs. SAIT prides itself on its strong programming and on our planning and management practices that have positioned us as one of the best technology institutions in the world. Please investigate the home pages describing some of our activities in these areas. Irene Lewis e-mail: [email protected] | |||||||||||||||||||||||
